Providing equal opportunities for all

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a flagship programme of the Government of India that aims to provide rural youth with opportunities for skill development. Terna Trust is proud to be associated with DDU-GKY and to be actively involved in the implementation of this programme to empower rural communities through skill training and creating employment opportunities.

Our participation in the DDU-GKY programme exhibits our ongoing commitment to rural development and providing sustainable livelihood openings for the underprivileged. Through this initiative, we aim to bridge the skill gap and enhance the employability of rural youth, enabling them to secure better livelihoods and improve their quality of life.

We chose to participate in the DDU-GKY initiative with the primary aim of supporting underprivileged rural youth aged 15-35. The government has implemented various social and economic programs such as Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities, and Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns to address these challenges.

According to statistical data, approximately 180 million or 69% of the country’s youth population falls within the age range of 18 to 35 and resides in rural areas. Surprisingly, out of this youth population, 55 million individuals come from rural areas, and a significant portion of them are unemployed.
